Today I heard an account I’d never heard before. White males are losing interest in a university education because the oil patch is paying too much. So to survive universities have to attract non-whites, and to do that it has to sell itself as reflecting the colour of its clientele. And it’s that that’s behind this push for EDI.
I have no idea whether this is true or not, but in any event a market, however diminished, remains for white males who, like me, would rather make a living thinking than doing. Where there’s a demand someone’s going to service it. So we’re going to end up with something not unlike the original Academy run by Plato. When this upper-case-Academy’s graduates become in high demand because the lower-case-academy is turning out nothing but ideological would-be commissars, these would-be commissars who couldn’t get a job because they’re borderline illiterate will be clamouring for a place in the upper-case-Academy, and everything will go back to how it was.
In the meantime, those few of us of Plato’s guardian class who’ve survived the Woke Purges will follow the example of the Irish monks who preserved the canon during the Dark Ages, and carry on until (what Will Durant called) the Age of Faith is replaced with the Renaissance.
Please feel free to thank us. But do it privately. The Woke are monitoring the social media. And don’t print any of our blog entries. One needn’t have read Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 for paper to burn at that temperature anyhow.
